Colorful Ceramics from Turkey

Turkey is the cradle of civilization, rich with history and art.  What most people associate with Turkey is rugmaking, of course! But did you know that  there are a large group of artisans that practice the craft  of hand-made ceramics?  These ceramics come in many types, sizes and forms.  Most are brightly colored with intricate hand painted details.  I have attached pictures of a few samples below:

The above picture shows the intricate detailing of a raised floral design on a 5″ bowl.   Can you imagine hand painting this?!

The picture below is representative of a design called “Milenyum” which is essentially the same swimming fish pattern with your choice of different colored fields.  The picture below shows 3″ bowls but this design comes in all sizes of plates, platters and bowls.
